Women’s Health And Ayurveda

According to Indian ancient literatures and Vedas, women is considered as the eternal energy ”SHAKTI” and the source of life on earth “Prakruti”. Women have the ability to pass any test of endurance, with her qualities of patience, stability, poise, multitasking and strong will power. She is the strong foundation, which gives stability to her family and society. It is very important for a women to be healthy so as to perform all her duties willingly and happily.

Ayurveda helps women find their body rhythm, which is closely linked to nature. Charaka samhita presents various categories of herbs and remedies for improving feminine health. Ayurveda deals with various Gynaecological and Obstetric issues, with the help of ancient herbal formulations with which women can lead a healthy and disease free life. Ayurveda,the ancient Indian herbal system of medicine has many important and useful herbs for women.

Female Infertility: Stri Vandyatva

In ayurveda inferitilty know as a strivandyatva. It means failure to achieve conception by a couple of mature age, having normal coitus, during appropriate period of menstrual cycle, regularly, atleast for one year is termed as infertility. Abnormalities of yoni(reproductive organs),psychology, shukra (sperm),asrk (menstrual flow), diet and mode of life, coitus at improper time and loss of bala (strength) have been include in the causes of delay in achieving conception.

Treatment

After consulting with the ayurvedic consultatnt) along with the course of detox therapies particularly Abhyangam followed by virechana(Purgetion). Strict diet and lifestyle changes were advised. Intake of medicated ghee is considered as nourishing and helps balance the hormonal issues leading to infertility. Ghees like Phalasarpis, dadimadi ghrutham,etc. Along with the medicines and therapies diet and lifestyle plays a vital role in the conditions like infertility.

PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome)/Fibroid

The pathology is an obstruction in the pelvic cavity causing disorders in the flow of vata,this in turn leads to accumulation of kapha and pitta. Arthava kshaya which can be correlated with PCOS has been described as deficiency/loss of arthava(menstrual flow), arthava does not appear in time or is delayed, is scanty and does not last for three days. Pain in the vagina also can be seen.

Uterus Prolapse (Prasransini Yoni Vyapad)

Uterine Prolapse is a condition in which the pelvic muscles and ligaments that hold the uterus in place start sagging resulting in a downward displacement of the uterus between the bladder and the rectum. The word yoni refers to vaginal canal and uterus, thus prolapse of vaginal wall and uterus both are considered.

Causes

  • Distension of uterus during multiple pregnancies or vaginal deliveries
  • Natural aging
  • Weakening of muscles

Symptoms

  • Feeling of something projecting or something about to fall out of the vagina.
  • A feeling of heaviness, pressure or something sticking in the pelvic area. Pain in intercourse.
  • Fatigue, Weariness, irritability and depression as allied symptoms
