Details
Cholesterol is a type of fat present in the blood in small quantities. Having excess cholesterol in the body is called Hypercholesterolemia. It is normal and healthy to have cholesterol but very high levels of cholesterol are dangerous. It can accumulate round the lining of our arties and make them less flexible which may leads to heart diseases. Basically there are two types of cholesterol in the body

1. HDL known as the high density cholesterol, or simply, the useful cholesterol

2. LDL known as low density cholesterol, or the bad cholesterol

According to Ayurveda cholesterol mentioned as a meda dhatu (lipid tissue). When the digestion is balanced and healthy, then the body produces the right amount of cholesterol, in the right proportion to nourish the body. Impaired digestion at the tissue level produces excess waste products or toxins (ama) which then block the channels in the body then blocks the coronary arteries leads to the condition known as Hridaya roga in Ayurveda, which literally meansheart disease.
